2007 ICC World Twenty20 Overview

The inaugural ICC T20 world cup was played in 2007 in South Africa between 11 September to 24 September 2007. India won the tournament by beating arch-rival Pakistan in the final​.

ICC T20 World Cup 2007 Format

​Twelve teams contested ​for the title in the tournament​.The 12 teams were divided into four groups of three teams each. The top two teams from each group ​qualified ​for Super Eight. Eight teams were ​further ​divided into two groups of four teams each. The two top teams from each Super Eight group qualified for the semi-finals.
