यह पहली बार है कि डब्ल्यूटीटी श्रृंखला जापान में आयोजित की जा रही है। शिन्हुआ की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, दुनिया की सर्वश्रेष्ठ 16 महिला एकल खिलाड़ी और शीर्ष आठ महिला युगल जोड़ियां सीजन के अंत की चैंपियनशिप के लिए प्रतिस्पर्धा करेंगी।
