25 वर्षीय इंटरनेशनल लॉन्ग जंपर ने अपने पांचवें प्रयास में 6.88 मीटर की दूरी तय करके अपना नाम रिकॉर्ड बुक में दर्ज कराया। उन्होंने 2004 में एथेंस में अंजू बॉबी जॉर्ज द्वारा बनाए गए 6.83 मीटर को तोड़ा।
शुरुआत से ही अच्छी लय में दिखीं एंसी सोजन ने 6.73 मीटर की जंप के साथ अपने रिकॉर्ड-तोड़ अभियान की शुरुआत की। उनकी दूसरी जंप फाउल रही। तीसरी जंप 6.67 मीटर की थी, जबकि चौथी जंप 6.72 मीटर की थी। जब इलेक्ट्रॉनिक स्कोरबोर्ड पर 6.88 मीटर दिखा तो उनकी खुशी का ठिकाना नहीं रहा। उनकी आखिरी और छठी जंप 6.69 मीटर की थी।
