Rising Star Vaishali Rameshbabu To Return For Norway Chess Women 2025
Currently ranked World No. 16 in women with a live rating of 2475 (November 2024), Vaishali’s achievements speak volumes. In 2023, she claimed the FIDE Women’s Grand Swiss, securing her spot in the 2024 Women’s Candidates Tournament.
But Vaishali’s story goes beyond her tournament wins. She became the third Woman Grandmaster in India in 2023, joining a prestigious group of players who have made history in Indian chess. This year also saw her achieve a major honour, the Arjuna Award, granted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in India, celebrating her exceptional contributions to Indian sports. In 2024, she played an instrumental role in India’s Olympiad team victory, earning a title that crowns her journey so far.
