टी-20 वर्ल्ड कप 2026 में पाकिस्तान और श्रीलंका के बीच मैच बेशक पाकिस्तान ने 5 रन से जीत लिया लेकिन इस उतार-चढ़ाव से भरे मैच का अंत अंपायर के एक विवादित फैसले के साथ हुआ। श्रीलंका को आखिरी ओवर में जीत के लिए 28 रन चाहिए थे और श्रीलंका के कप्तान दसुन शनाका ने शाहीन अफरीदी के इस ओवर की पहली चार गेंदों में 22 रन बना दिए थे जिसके बाद आखिरी गेंद पर छह रन चाहिए थे और श्रीलंका का स्कोर 19.5 ओवर में 207/6 था।
ऐसे में सभी की नज़रें शाहीन अफरीदी पर थीं, जिन पर मैच की आखिरी गेंद फेंकने का दबाव था। शाहीन ने आखिरी गेंद शनाका के रडार से दूर ऑफ स्टंप के बाहर फेंकी जो कि बैट्समैन की पहुंच से काफी दूर थी लेकिन इसके बावजूद अंपायर ने इसे वाइड नहीं दिया, जिसके चलते श्रीलंका आखिरी गेंद पर रोमांचक मैच हार गया। अंपायर के इस फैसले से कैप्टन दासुन शनाका काफी हैरान थे।
