करुण नायर को इस साल इंग्लैंड में पांच मैचों की सीरीज़ के लिए भारतीय टेस्ट टीम में चुना गया था लेकिन जब वो इंग्लैंड में चार टेस्ट मैचों की आठ इनिंग्स में कुल 205 रन ही बना पाए, तो उन्हें वेस्ट इंडीज़ के खिलाफ़ घरेलू सीरीज़ के लिए बाहर कर दिया गया। इतना ही नहीं, उन्हें सितंबर में ऑस्ट्रेलिया ए के खिलाफ दो चार-दिवसीय मैचों और साउथ अफ्रीका ए के खिलाफ आने वाले दो चार-दिवसीय मैचों के लिए भी इंडिया ए टीम में भी नहीं चुना गया।
